Ingredients
– 1 (3-4 pound) whole chicken
– 1 (12 oz) can of beer
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1 tablespoon kosher salt
– 2 teaspoons black pepper
– 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
– 2 teaspoons garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Rinse the chicken under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
3. Open the can of beer and take a few sips (or more!) to make room for the chicken.
4. Carefully lower the chicken onto the beer can, making sure the can is stable and the chicken is standing up straight.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, thyme, and oregano.
6. Rub the seasoning mixture all over the outside of the chicken, making sure to get it into all the nooks and crannies.
7. Place the beer can chicken in a roasting pan or on a baking sheet, and transfer to the preheated oven.
8. Roast the chicken for 60-75 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the breast.
9. Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carefully removing the beer can.
10. Carve the chicken and serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy!
Notes
For extra crispy skin, you can baste the chicken with the pan juices every 15 minutes during the cooking process. You can also experiment with different types of beer or seasonings to customize the flavor.
