Description

Indulge in the irresistible fusion of a crispy blooming onion and savory pizza with this Blooming Onion Pizza Bread. Featuring layers of golden, crunchy onion petals nestled in a cheesy, saucy pizza dough, this appetizer is guaranteed to be the star of any party or game day gathering.

Ingredients

– 1 large onion, sliced into thin rings

– 1 lb pizza dough, homemade or store-bought

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

– 1 cup marinara sauce

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Carefully slice the onion into thin rings, keeping the rings intact.

3. In a large bowl, gently separate the onion rings, ensuring each ring stays together.

4. Roll out the pizza dough into a large circle, approximately 12 inches in diameter.

5. Place the dough into a 9-inch pie dish or round baking pan, pressing it up the sides to create a shallow bowl shape.

6. Arrange the onion rings in a spiral pattern, starting from the outer edge and working your way to the center.

7. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the onion rings.

8. Combine the garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the cheese.

9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the onion rings are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

10. Remove from the oven and serve warm with the marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the seasoning mixture. You can also experiment with different cheese blends, such as cheddar or Parmesan, to suit your taste preferences.
