Description

Grandma’s Onion Boil Recipe is a quick and easy side dish that’s bursting with flavor. Tender, caramelized onions are simmered in a savory broth for a comforting and delicious addition to any meal.

Ingredients

– 4 large yellow onions, sliced

– 2 cups beef or chicken broth

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 1 teaspoon dried thyme

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.

2. Add the sliced onions and stir to coat with the butter.

3. Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes until they start to caramelize and turn golden brown.

4. Pour in the broth and add the thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30-35 minutes, or until the onions are very soft and the broth has thickened.

6. Serve the Onion Boil Recipe warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

This recipe can be easily doubled or tripled to serve a larger crowd. The onions can be cooked in advance and reheated before serving. Feel free to experiment with different types of onions or add in garlic for extra flavor.
