Description

Tender, caramelized cabbage steaks are elevated with the addition of crispy, savory bacon in this easy and delicious side dish.

Ingredients

– 1 medium head of green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick slices

– 6 slices of bacon, chopped

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Arrange the cabbage slices in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

3. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the cabbage slices and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and lightly browned.

4. While the cabbage is baking, cook the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

5. Remove the cabbage from the oven and top with the crispy bacon. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add minced garlic or onion to the cabbage before roasting. The cabbage steaks can also be served with a drizzle of balsamic glaze or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
